Kaia Kanepi fans will be glad to hear that the tennis player leapt 22 spots in the world rankings, now in 24th, in her recent comeback from an injury.

Kanepi was knocked out in the quarterfinals at the women's Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon. She saw more success at the Brussels Open, where she recently claimed the fourth WTA tournament win of her career, reported sport.err.ee.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old rising star Anett Kontaveit rose three positions to reclaim the career best she achieved in June, 313th place in the WTA rankings.

There was some reshuffling in the top 10 as well, with Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and Viktoria Azarenka in first, second and third place.

Sumo fans have less to celebrate as Baruto risks falling out of the top division known as Makuuchi into the Juryo division, reported Postimees.

The nearly 200-kg Estonian suffered a subsequent knee injury in a tournament in May.

He inititially said he would not compete at the Nagoya basho, which started yesterday, but then he said he would opt instead for a late start.

Baruto would need at least two or three victories to stay in the top division.

"Doctors said he shouldn't compete at all, but Baruto hopes to get back on track," said summo expert Riho Rannikmaa.

The president of the Estonian swimming association, Karol Kovanen, said that the B sample of a yet unnamed young Estonian swimmer has also turned out positive for doping after an Estonian-Finnish tournament held in May.

"I can confirm that the B sample result was positive and now the respective procedure will be initiated," she told sport.err.ee. "The name of the swimmer cannot yet be revealed."

According to ERR sources, the swimmer is a 17-year-old who has set several junior national records and whose coach, Nikolai Borzov, was pulled over last week in Tartu for drunken driving. The swimmer reportedly used stanozolol.
