The Rescue Board has purchased 90 thermographic cameras that will be used by rescue teams and the Rescue College.

“Tests conducted at the Academy of Security Sciences' Rescue College show that the cameras allow rescue workers to locate pockets of fire and injured people ten times faster,” a spokesman for the board told uudised.err.ee today.

The cameras cost a total of 464,000 euros, with most of the tab being picked up by the European Regional Development Fund.

Rescuers currently have 28 cameras and airborne thermoimaging capability at their disposal.
