Tartu Academics, Civil Servant to Be Recognized for Advancement of French ({{commentsTotal}})


On Wednesday, French Ambassador to Estonia T. E. Frédéric Billet will present his country's Order of Academic Palms to a government official and two members of the University of Tartu faculty.

The recipients of the award are University of Tartu Romance philology instructor Anu Treikelder; Institute of Germanic, Romance and Slavic Languages director Tanel Lepsoo; and Ministry of Culture external relations director Eike Eller, uudised.err.ee reported.

The medal, created by Napoleon in 1808, recognizes excellence in the advancement of the French language and culture.

Another University of Tartu faculty member received the award in 1997.
