Reinsalu Plays Down Coalition Rift
Defense Minister Urmas Reinsalu said the coalition parties, IRL and the Reform Party, disagree on the odd issue, but they generally have consensus.
"There are a few lone issues where the coalition partners have different standpoints. We must reach an agreement on these issues," Reinsalu, chairman of IRL, told Eesti Päevaleht.
"Looking at the bigger picture, the government has the capacity to work and trust," he said.
Amidst a few sore points between the coalition parties, Finance Minister Jürgen Ligi revealed in an opinion article yesterday that the recent budget talks had brought the coalition to the brink of collapse.
Reinsalu said: "This coalition has public support, a strong and respectable majority in Parliament, internal cooperation capacity [...] Feelings are not the foundation upon which coalition politics are based."
