Second Phase of Tartu University Hospital Development Begins
The Tartu University Hospital has laid the cornerstone to a new three-building complex that will house the cancer treatment facility, and the eye, internal medicine and surgery clinics.
Services such as the hospital's laboratory and the pharmacy will also move into the new buildings, ERR radio reported on Tuesday.
The three buildings, with a total of 39,000 square meters of floor space, are expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
Nearly half of the 77-million euro total cost of the second phase will be covered by the European Regional Development Fund.
The new buildings are the second phase of the development of the hospital. The first part was completed in 2008, and the third phase is on the drawing board.
