Following last week's ruling to terminate a contract between state-owned Elron and the state to operate the new Stadler trains from January 1, the Tallinn Administrative Court ruled on Monday that Elron may still service the lines.

Edelaraudtee, the privately-owned company which has taken Elron (formerly Elektriraudtee) and the state to court in the two cases, and a third case involving the premature termination of its own contract with the state, lost its bid to stop the service contract between Elron and the state from taking effect.

The ruling means that Elron will have the right to service passenger rail lines in Estonia, including those previously serviced by Edelaraudtee. But under current rulings, Elron cannot service those lines with the new Stadler trains.
