Daily Eesti Päevaleht has said Urve Tiidus is likely to be named as Rein Lang's replacement in the minister post he vacated yesterday.

Tiidus, 59, is a member of Parliament's Finance Committee and European Affairs Committee. She was well known as an ETV anchorwoman last decade, then became mayor of Kuressaare and ran for Parliament twice, being elected in 2011. She is a graduate of the University of Tartu with a degree in English philology.

The Reform Party's practice is to favor people with experience working in Parliament. If none fit the bill, they then seek out people with experience in running in elections.

Tiidus is seen as having a calmer temperament and being a better listener than her predecessor, said the daily.
