December Well Off Record Warmth Mark ({{commentsTotal}})

While well above the norm temperature-wise, December 2013 will not go into the record books.

The average air temperature was 2.5 C, which is 4.7 degrees warmer than the average.

December 2011 was just as warm. Christmas was white that year, but only 1-2 cm blanketed the ground

2006 was even warmer - the average air temperature was 4.2 C that month

Precipitation last month was 58 mm - 7 percent above average. There were 19 hours of sunshine, one less than the long-term average.

Forecasters say it might only get cold in mid to late January. Sleet and rain is in the forecast for this week.
