CNN has compiled figures which define the Sochi Olympics, ERR has added a few of its own.

Projected cost: 37 billion euros. London 11 billion, Vancouver 6.5 billion (2010), Beijing 31 billion (2008).

Athletes: 6,000 from 85 nations, plus 1,650 Paralympians. Estonia confirmed 24 athletes (17 men, 7 women)

Number of fields: 15, Estonians will compete in six.

Number of security officers guarding the games: 37,000.

Number of volunteers: 25,000.

Amount of borscht expected to be served during the games: 265,000 liters.

Average temperature in Sochi in February: 8.3 C, -5 C in Estonia.

Expected television audience: 3 billion

Total number of projected spectators: 500,000, including Andrus Ansip with his family, Edgar Savisaar and Urmas Paet.

Population of Sochi: 340,000.

Number of journalists ERR will send to the games: eight, though none from ERR News.
