Don't Expect Good News From Ukraine Any Time Soon, Says Mihkelson ({{commentsTotal}})

Chairman of the Estonian Foreign Affairs Committee Marko Mihkelson said that the opposition forces in Ukraine lack coherence and should decide on one candidate to oppose the current regime.

Speaking on ETV on Monday after completing a trip to Ukraine, Mihkelson said that the former world heavyweight boxing champion Vitali Klitschko should be that one candidate, as he is, with the imprisoned Yulia Tymoshenko, the most popular alternative.

Mihkelson said that the conflict comes down to values, with corruption, lying and a Soviet mentality on one side, and European values and the will to move towards them, on the other side.

ERR correspondent Astrid Kannel, who was also in Kiev recently, said that the atmosphere outside the conflict zones is normal, although few have not taken sides.

She said the situation is far from the festive mood of the 2004 Orange Revolution and there is more of a wartime ambience.
