Paet Meets German Counterpart, Discusses Ukraine, NATO ({{commentsTotal}})

Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet was in Berlin on Thursday meeting his counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier to discuss Ukraine, cyber defense and NATO, among other topics.

Paet and Steinmeier said that the first steps by the Ukrainian government to exit its current political crisis have been positive, but human rights violations and attacks on freedom of speech and the free media are still to be tackled, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release on Thursday.

Speaking about the future of NATO, Paet said that cooperation between members should be prioritized.

“NATO adapting to new, future threats is just as important,” said Paet, highlighting the development of cyber defense capabilities.
