Lithuanian Trucker Sentenced to Probation One Week After Passing Banknote in Passport
Viru County Court handed down a suspended one-year sentence with probation for an attempt to bribe a customs inspector.
The incident occurred in Sillamäe on February 2 and involved a Lithuanian citizen.
The truck driver, 27, offered his passport to the customs inspector with a 50-euro note inside, expressing the wish that the customs inspection be waived.
The court said on Monday that the suspended sentence was contingent on three years' probation.
The Lithuanian also had to pay 800 euros in fines and costs, and the banknote was confiscated as well.
