Conservative People's Party Protests Border Treaty ({{commentsTotal}})

Around 50 people gathered in front of the Estonian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday after the signing of a border treaty with Russia earlier in the day in Moscow.

The Conservative People's Party, which led the protest, said conceding territory to Russia goes against Estonia's Constitution and will leave thousands of Estonian citizens in the hands of fate, ERR radio reported on Tuesday.

The party's Chairman, Mart Helme, a former Estonian ambassador to Russia, said as a member of NATO and the EU, Estonia should have renegotiated the agreement, details of which were essentially agreed upon in the 1990s.
