Estonian MEP Kristiina Ojuland could face ejection from the European Parliament after she accepted luxury accommodation paid for by the Azerbaijani parliament while serving as an independent observer in the country.

Ojuland and eight other MEPs were in Azerbaijan in October for three nights as election observers, and later publicly said the elections were free and fair, a position far from the stance of the OECD and other international organizations, Eesti Päevaleht reported.

Martin Schulz, the President of the European Parliament, said he will decide on the punishment for accepting the accommodation, which can range from a fine to expulsion, in March or April. The EP elections are at the end of May.
