Savisaar to Hold Lecture on Democracy in Moscow Today
Tallinn Mayor Edgar Savisaar has traveled to Moscow to give a lecture at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry today.
The lecture, entitled “Cooperation Between European Cities in the Modern World,” will focus on principles of people's democracy on the city level, developing tourism, cooperation in culture, and the education and business spheres, Raepress, Tallinn's press office, said on Monday.
Savisaar, who is also head of the Center Party, will also speak about the free public transport plan operating in Tallinn.
The Center Party has had a co-operation agreement with United Russia since 2004, the party of President Vladimir Putin. Savisaar has spoken out against the power shift in Kiev, although other top-level party members have backed Ukraine's new government.
