Former US secretary of state and early front-runner to replace Barack Obama as the next president, Hillary Clinton, said the rationale Russian President Vladimir Putin is using in the Crimea could be exported to other parts of Ukraine and the Baltics.

“There are a lot of places where there are ethnic Russians and Russian speakers,” she told the Economic Times today.

She said Putin is attempting to rewrite the boundaries of postwar Europe and that the US should increase support for the government in Kyiv and help Europe become less dependent on Russian energy sources.
