A online dictionary of Estonian sign language was presented at the Institute of the Estonian Language on Tuesday in Tallinn.
It was compiled using basic vocabulary from Estonian dictionaries, with the Estonian sign-language equivalents.
The glossary contains more than 4,000 words, and allows keyword searching in Estonian with predictive text.
In the other direction, users can also input signs (first the location on the body, then the direction of the hand movement) to bring up various possible words.
The site was supported by the Gambling Tax Council, and the ministries of education and social affairs.
Estonian Language Institute Director Urmas Sutrop and project manager Jelena Kallas showcased the database to the Estonian Sign Language Interpreters Association.
You can visit the site here (in Estonian).
