After More Than 5 Months, Anti-Piracy Crew on Bail
The Estonian "pirate hunters" detained in India in October for alleged arms violations in territorial waters are out of jail on their own recognizance, something that has been postponed numerous times.
The news was reported by their employer, Advanfort, a US-based maritime security company.
The Indian court in Tamil Nadu state decided that the captain of the Seaman Guard Ohio and one Advanfort employee would not be released.
The legal details of the release will be announced later, Advanfort said in a statement.
The 25 crew members - including 14 Estonians - were arrested by Indian authorities on October 18. India has taken a tough line on private security ventures - in particular, armed ships operating in its national waters - after several fatal and near fatal incidents.
