ETV Interview: Turkish Nobelist Pamuk on Museums, Memory and Melancholy ({{commentsTotal}})

This week, the spotlight in Tallinn was on museums, with Europe's best honored by the European Museum Forum. Writer Orhan Pamuk won the main award for his Museum of Innocence - although he has a novel by the same name, he has also established a real-life museum by that name in Istanbul.

The distinguished guest dropped by the ETV studio recently to talk with Epp Ehand. Although politics were discussed, he also reflected on his main preoccupation as an artist.

"What I always think is what should be my next novel. I don’t think about my luck but worry about my next novel, the next story, how to manage the museum, how to make the museum work better. How to make people who come to my museum, who read my novels understand the world more deeply. In the end both the museums and the novels speak about the uniqueness of human experience whether the experience is in the novel or in the museum."
