The Harju County Court rejected the suit of Tallinn Mayor Edgar Savisaar against the daily Postimees, which published the assessment of the Internal Security Service (ISS) that he is a Russian agent and a security threat.

The suit concerned articles by Tuuli Koch, published on December 16 and 17, 2010. According to Savisaar, the head of the Center Party, the articles contained disparaging false claims that he is a Russian agent, that he was involved in influence peddling and he is a threat to Estonia, Postimees reported on Friday.

According to the court, Savisaar arbitrarily drew the conclusion that Koch accused him of being a Russian agent and influence peddling. The ruling stated that the articles only referenced the ISS claims and assessments to Savisaar’s actions.
