Figure skater Jelena Glebova, who has been one of the most successful winter sport athletes in Estonia in recent years, announced her retirement from the sport on Wednesday.

“I am grateful to my parents, who guided me to such a beautiful sport as figure skating. I would like to thank all coaches and experts who helped me. Hopefully my experience will help bring up the next generation of young figure skates,” Glebova told Delfi on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Glebova took part in three Olympics (28th in 2006, 21st in 2010 and 29th this year) and won seven Estonian championships.

Her best result came at the 2014 European Figure Skating Championships, finishing eighth in the short program and seventh in the freestyle round and overall.
