President's New Residence Ready in 2016
The renovation of an estate in western Tallinn will start next fall and be done in a year, State Real Estate said Tuesday in announcing the terms of a call for tenders for the design and structural engineering of the future presidential residence.
Bids can be placed on the renovation work until June 30.
The dilapidated Liberty complex in Rocca al Mare will be completely restored as the year-round residence of the head of state.
The complex was formerly the summer manor of the Koch family, the best known member of whom is banker Egon Koch, and dates from 1905.
The current residence in Kadriorg budgets only 150 square meters of space for the president, while Liberty has three stories.
