The National Library’s transition to summer operations began on July 1, which will last until the end of August.

The National Library will be opened from 12:00 to 18:00. During the collective holiday, from Monday until July 20, the library will be shut.

The general director of the National Library, Janne Andresoo, said that the two-week vacation allows noisy repair work to be done, as well as reducing costs during a time of little use. She said although this is an annual occurrence, this year the time of has been reduced.

During the time when the library is closed, readers are encouraged to use the e-library digar.ee, from which it is possible to upload 116 Estonian literary classics. Currently the waiting time for book orders in the e-catalogue ESTER has been reduced to 15 minutes, in order to hasten book lending before closure.
