Ilves Withdraws State Decorations from Tuiksoo, Annus and Kangur ({{commentsTotal}})

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves today decided to withdraw the state decorations awarded to Toomas Annus, Ester Tuiksoo and Kalev Kangur, all recently convicted for corruption.

The decorations act allows the president to withdraw decorations if the persons concerned have been convicted of a deliberate crime and the verdict has entered into force, the President said in a statement today.

Annus, a businessman, and Tuiksoo, former minister of agriculture, both received the Order of the White Star, Third Class, in 2006, and Kangur, also a businessman, received the Order of the White Star, Fourth Class, in 2004.

The decoration must be returned to the Office of the President.
