Estonia to Support Afghan Womens' Vocational Training ({{commentsTotal}})

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has began a project to support IT and health vocational training for women in four provinces of Afghanistan.

Foreign Minister Urmas Paet said the project will boost health service quality and employment opportunities for women.

NGO Mondo and the Tallinn Health Care College will focus on improving midwife quality in four provinces.

More than 100 women will be able participate in a six-month IT training program in the Faryab Province in northern Afghanistan. The course is build on the needs of local businesses. 30 rural school teachers will also take part in a course and IT equipment will be donated to a number of rural schools.

The development project will run from August 2014 to August 2016, and 265,000 euros has been earmarked.
