Russian Embassy Staff's Traffic Incidents Continue to Mount ({{commentsTotal}})

The high number of traffic incidents involving Russian Embassy staff is again in the news after a driver evaded police Saturday night.

On the night in question, say the police, an employee of the embassy repeatedly "created hazardous situations," ignored police orders to stop the vehicle and finally fled into the embassy, reported, mentioning the name of the suspected individual.

It was at least the 11th incident in the last five years, according to police reports compiled by In many of the cases, police reports stated probable drunk driving and recklessness.

The embassy declined comment to about the latest case, saying it had no information that it took place.

The car, a Mitsubishi, was first spotted on Paldiski maantee, a major artery leading west out of town, at 21:20. Police said they suspected a DWI.

Police gave pursuit, ordered the vehicle to stop, but it accelerated and proceeded toward the Old Town, where the Russian embassy is located.
