Nõmme Kalju's Win Opens Up Football League
FC Flora wasted an opportunity to move three points clear in the league, losing to third place Nõmme Kalju 1-0 on Saturday, as two-thirds of the season in the Estonian football league is now complete.
Kalju's Jorge Rodrigues headed in the only goal of the game on the 72nd minute after a cross from a free kick. Watch that goal here.
The win means the top three are separated by just two points, instead of eight, had Flora won. FC Levadia, last year's champion, is on top with Flora, both on 54 points from 24 games, with Kalju on 52 points. Sillamäe Kalev, third in 2013, is tied for fourth with FC Infonet, both have 46 points.
Jõhvi Lokomotiv, promoted to the top league this year, is dead last with just one win and eight points, four less that Tallinna Kalev.
Flora will host Kalju at the end of September for the next crunch game, with Kalju traveling to Levadia one week later. Flora will then host Levadia on October 18 for the last game of the season between the top three teams. The last round of the season will take place on November 8.
Jõhvi's Maksim Bazjukin received ERR's Goal of the Month award for July, for his strike against Levadia in a 1-5 defeat. Watch all the top goals from July here (from 0:57), and Bazjukin's goal from 2:45.
