Bilateral Border Meeting Canceled
Today's meeting between Estonian and Russian border guards was called off after the Russians said they weren't ready yet.
The meeting had been called so both sides could sign off on the initial report of an inspection of the scene where Estonian counterintelligence officer Eston Kohver was said to be kidnapped on September 5.
The Russian side says it is waiting for additional details before it can finalize the report that border guards from both sides signed on that Friday.
The Estonian representative at the border, Border Guard Colonel Aimar Köss called that meeting, where both sides stated that a border violation from the Russian side had occurred, along with signs of a struggle.
"There is no actual dispute over the fact of the border crossing, the question is about the bearing of the persons crossing and other details," said Southern Prefecture head Tarmo Kohv.
