Russian Poll: Estonia No Longer Seen as Enemy
Only 1 percent of Russians consider Estonia a hostile country, according to a poll conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center in September. The list is once again topped by the United States, followed by Ukraine and the European Union as a whole.
The majority of Russians still hold that the US is their No. 1 public enemy. Negative feelings towards Germany and the rest of the EU are also on the rise.
But noteworthy is the changed attitude toward the Baltic countries. Despite their active support for EU sanctions and the presence of NATO troops in the region, the percentage of Russians who consider Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania hostile has dropped from 6 percent to 1.
According to the poll, China, Belarus and Kazakhstan are perceived as the most friendly toward Russia.
The poll sampled the opinions of 1,600 respondents from 130 different locations in Russia.
