Baltic Music Festival in China ({{commentsTotal}})

The first festival introducing Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian music in China will start this Saturday and last for a month. More than half of the festival program consists of Estonian music.

The performers include the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Arsis Handbell Ensemble, Cello Quartet C-JAM and pianist Rein Rannap, who between them will give 20 concerts in six different cities. Performers were selected by a delegation from the China Association of Performing Arts during a visit to the Baltic countries.

The concert tour of Estonian musicians is organized by state agency Eesti Kontsert, China Association of Performing Arts and Shanghai City Theater, and supported by the Estonian Ministry of Culture.

The festival aims to lay groundwork for further cooperation between the Baltic states and China. C-JAM, for instance, will joined on stage by a local quartet and together they will perform both Estonian and Chinese music.

Next year will see several concerts by Chinese musicians in the Baltic states. The visits of Estonian artists to China will continue as well: Eesti Kontsert is planning an Estonian National Male Choir and Estonian Dream Big-Band concert tour for autumn 2015.

The festival will run from October 25 to November 22.
