ERR in Moscow: Ukraine election results accepted as legitimate by Russian media
Media in Russia called the Ukrainian parliamentary election campaigns unfair and dirty, but has accepted that the pro-Western block has claimed victory after the vote Sunday.
Russian media has focused heavily on the elections in Ukraine, but the general consensus is that the elections were free and fair and the results have been accepted, despite the nation choosing to turn away from Russia and towards Western Europe.
Besides the media, Russian state officials also said the elections were fair and the results valid. The head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian Parliament, Alexey Pushkov, said the elections do not change the leadership of Ukraine, but Russia has accepted the results.
State-owned media company RIA Novosti quoted Aleksandr Zakharchenko, the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, who said the elections were won by Ukraine's pro-war camp.
Business daily Vedomosti reported that election observes said there far less election fraud compared to previous elections in the country.
