Tallinn launches 'name a tram' competition
Tallinn's public transportation company TLT has asked for help in naming the rest of the brand new trams about to enter service, after the first tram was named Moonika.
The first Spanish-built tram has already arrived, with 15 more set to arrive this year and four in 2016.
The company has asked ideas, with a short explanation, to be sent by email to [email protected]. Contact details should also be added. Winners will receive a prize.
The city has purchased a total of 20 trams from Spanish company CAF.
The total cost of the deal, which includes training for drivers and maintenance teams, was 53.4 million euros. It was paid for with money earned from CO2 quota sales. The reconstruction of tracks took the final cost up to 91 million euros.
