Latvian who hid a kilo of cocaine in body busted at Tallinn airport
Tax and Customs Board officials apprehended a Latvian citizen, who was carrying one kilogram of cocaine in his body. Police have arrested two more Latvian citizens believed to be connected to the case.
The man was taken to a hospital in Tallinn for a check after officials became suspicious. A total of 37 bags were found hid in his intestines.
Prosecutor Taavi Pern said the number of people smuggling drugs to Estonia inside their bodies has decreased in recent years as the method is very dangerous.
“Had even one bag broken, the man would have died instantly,” Pern said.
The man is said to have travelled to Estonia from Argentina.
