Nature cameras start new season
With many animals starting a nesting season, the State Forest Management Center and Looduskalender.ee have relaunched several of their live nature cams.
The badger camera started its second season today. The camera offers round-the-clock view of the entrance to a badger sett where they breed.
Badger cubs are usually born in March or April. The cubs are born blind. Viewers are unlikely to see them for the first two months of their lives, after which they will finally venture outside. According to zoologists Tiit Hunt, that should happen around mid-May.
In the case of sow Kadi and her yet-to-be-named mate, they were conceived last year on June 9 in front of the camera, during season one of what is Estonian reality television par excellence.
Two Osprey webcams have also gone back online. The cameras, installed at artificial nests, enter their third and forth year.
Bear cam too has started transmitting again.
Another webcam keeps an eye on the four owlets of tawny owls, called Klaara and Klaus, born in the beginning of April. The grey seal camera is also still online, as are those for deer, different eagles and buzzards.
In addition, Tallinn Zoo also broadcasts the lives of several of its residents, including leopards, rhinos and elephants.
