Estonian MEPs have highest participation rate
MEPs from Estonia, Austria, and Croatia and have the highest participation rates in the European Parliament, a new study reveals.
According to data provided by VoteWatch Europe for the Guardian, all 6 Estonian MEPs – Kaja Kallas, Urmas Paet, Yana Toom (Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe), Indrek Tarand (independent), Tunne Kelam (European People's Party), and Marju Lauristin (Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats) – are all doing very well in voting statistics.
Participation in roll-call votes, to determine the presence or absence of the MEPs, is at least 90 percent for all of them – and 100 percent for Tunne Kelam.
Britain’s Ukip is Europe’s laziest major political party. Between July 2014 and May 2015, its 23 MEPs have on average participated in only 62.29 percent of votes in the European Parliament, according to data.
