Estonia's CO2 emissions down less than EU average
Estonia's annual CO2 or carbon dioxide emissions decreased by an estimated 2 percent in 2014, compared to a year ago, still falling short of EU's average drop of 5 percent.
Slovakia (-14.1 percent), Denmark (-10.7 percent) and Slovenia (-9.1 percent) led the way, with emissions growth recorded in six EU nations, the most in Bulgaria (7.1 percent), Cyprus (3.5 percent) and Malta (2.5 percent), according to Eurostat.
In absolute terms, 19,237,000 tons of CO2 was emitted in Estonia last year. That makes around 14.6 tons per person, far more than the union's average of 6.3 tons.
CO2 emissions account for 80 percent of all EU greenhouse gas emissions.
