Cruise ship stranded in Tallinn with engine troubles
The cruise ship Viking Star has been stuck in Tallinn for a few days, with engine trouble stopping it from continuing its journey, leaving a few hundred tourists to enjoy an extended stay in Estonia's capital.
“The ship lost power in its engines three days ago and allegedly is waiting for spare part,” an anonymous source told Postimees on Sunday, adding that the cruise ship is likely to continue its journey on Tuesday.
Passengers have been told they can cut the trip short and fly home, but have not been offered compensation yet, cruiselawnews.com reported.
The site said the ship is very new and was launched in April.
Around 500,000 cruise ship tourists visit Estonia each year, each spending on average 50-60 euros.
