Top-ranked US general in Estonia
Four-star General Martin Dempsey, the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, arrived in Estonia on Sunday for a two-day visit.
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is the highest ranking officer in the US Armed Forces.
Dempsey will meet Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas, Defense Minister Sven Mikser and the US Ambassador to Estonia, Jeffrey D. Levine. On Tuesday, Dempsey will meet President Toomas Hendrik Ilves. Defense-related cooperation, the development of the Estonian Defense Forces and the regional security situation will be the main topics on the table.
He will also visit the cyber defense center, as well as the Estonian Defense Forces' headquarters and the US troops stationed at Tapa.
He will lay a wreath at the War of Independence Victory Column with Lieutenant General Riho Terras, the head of the Estonian Defense Forces.
