KaPo: Kohver received messages from us
The Internal Security Service's (KaPo) deputy head Aleksander Toots said Eston Kohver received messages from them while awaiting trial in Russian prisons.
Toots told Eesti Päevaleht Kohver held on well while in prison in Russia for nearly 13 months. “It was of the utmost importance for Eston to know that we had not abandoned him. And that message he received,” he said, adding that he cannot divulge any other details.
Toots also said the video of the alleged arrest of Kohver, which was leaked to Russian media, was staged.
“This is a classic trick, " he said, adding that it all depends on which angle and when things were filmed. He also pointed out that smoke was used to cover any angles which might show where people in the video were actually located.
Kohver was kidnapped from Estonian territory. If he was in Russia, then there would not have been the need to put up such a show, he said.
