Cash for driving licenses scandal heating up
Police apprehended five Road Administration employees accused of taking bribes for driving licenses. The Road Administration has now said those who purchased a license will have them revoked.
According to the accusations, the five people received cash for allowing people to pass a drivers' exam. Police named the acts as widespread and systematic.
The staff members took bribes worth a few hundred euros for each license.
Priit Sauk, the head of the Road Administration, told Postimees those who purchased a license, instead of passing exams, will have their license revoked. All exams are videotaped.
Two people outside the Road Administration, which is in charge of administering driving license exams, among other tasks, are accused of aiding. The five staff members have now quit the institution.
