Rõivas, Sipilä hassle Cameron over EU reform proposals... or lack of them
The prime ministers of Estonia, Finland and the United Kingdom are currently participating at the meeting of Nordic and Baltic Prime Ministers in Reykjavik, Iceland, where the latter is trying to rally support for Britain's plan to renegotiate its relationship with the European Union, ahead of its referendum on EU membership.
However, Taavi Rõivas and Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipilä undermined his efforts, telling BBC that Cameron is yet to offer any concrete proposals.
According to Rõivas, Nordic leaders talked about "directions" with the UK but are yet to focus on detail. Sipilä collaborated this impression, saying that once concrete proposals are on the table, Nordic countries would be “very open to finding a solution.”
The comment came just a day after UK's Europe minister David Lidington claimed the talks were “going well,” BBC reported.
Rõivas also met Cameron in London just a few weeks ago.
Estonia wants the UK to stay in the EU. The UK will hold the EU referendum by the end of 2017.
