Ilves, Rõivas, Kaljurand express condolences over Russian flight crash
Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas took to Twitter, in Russian, to express condolences to all who lost friends or family in the crash of a Russian airliner in Egypt on Saturday, killing all 224 people on board.
“My deep sympathy to the families and friends of those involved in the airline crash today, and to all Russians,” President Toomas Hendrik Ilves said, in a letter to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Estonian Foreign Minister Marina Kaljurand, herself half Russian, send condolences to Sergey Lavrov, the Russian FM.
Estonia has a large ethnic Russian minority. One passenger on the flight, a 23-year-old woman, was from the Estonian city of Kohtla-Järve, although she was a Russian citizen and had lived in St. Petersburg.
