New US ambassador to Estonia takes office
The new United States Ambassador to Estonia, James Melville, presented his credentials to President Toomas Hendrik Ilves today. Melville replaced Jeffrey Levine.
Melville's appointment as the next US Ambassador to Estonia was announced in September, when it was hailed by some as a sign of Estonia's growing international importance.
Melville, a historian by profession, has previously served in Berlin, Brussels, Paris, Moscow and London. He is the former executive director of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs and International Organization Affairs in the US state department.
