Estonian Arvo Part again ranked as most performed living composer ({{commentsTotal}})

According to statistics compiled by the classical event database Bachtrack, Estonian Arvo Part was the number one among living composers by event also in 2015.

Part, who celebrated his 80th birthday last year, is the most performed living composer in the world for the fifth consecutive year, the Arvo Part Center said. He was followed by fellow contemporary composers from the United States, John Adams and John Williams.

"Arvo Part continues to be the most performed contemporary concert composer, leagues ahead of John Adams and John Williams," Mark Pullinger, classical music and opera editor at Bachtrack, said.

The most often performed composers in general were once again Mozart, Beethoven and Bach.

Notably in this year's rankings, Handel's Messiah was toppled from top spot as the most performed concert work, with Beethoven's Fifth now sitting at the head of the league.

The name of one more Estonian can be found at the top of a Bachtrack chart. The busiest conductor title for women went to the conductor of the Komische Oper Berlin, Kristiina Poska, who has been conducting the orchestra most often during 2015.
