Survey results: EKRE most attractive to those previously politically uncommitted
According to a survey, the Conservative People’s Party of Estonia (EKRE) was the most successful in attracting people who had previously stayed out of politics to its ranks over the past year; the Centre Party came in second.
Over the course of the past year, 352 people who had not previously belonged to any political party joined the Conservative People’s Party of Estonia, or EKRE, reported national daily “Eesti Päevaleht” (link in Estonian).
301 people who were previously politically uncommitted joined the Centre Party during the same period.
The Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL) came in third place, despite a decline in the political party’s overall popularity, with 174 previously uncommitted new members joining their party over the past year.
The Social Democratic Party (SDE) saw an increase in membership of 72, Reform Party of 68, and the Free Party of 64 individuals who had previously remained uninvolved in politics.
Daily “Eesti Päevaleht” conducted a survey on how many people who had never belonged to a political party before joined a party between March 4, 2015, i.e. after parliamentary elections, and February 8, 2016.
