Kaljurand: Estonia would like to see Bosnia and Herzegovina in the EU
Minister of Foreign Affairs Marina Kaljurand (independent) expressed Estonia’s support on Wednesday of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s ambition to join the European Union.
Kaljurand met with her counterpart, Igor Crnadak. She said that Estonia would like to see Bosnia and Herzegovina as a candidate for EU membership, but cautioned that continued work on reforms and integration was necessary. She also expressed Estonia’s readiness to share its experiences joining and integrating into the union.
She also thanked Bosnia and Herzegovina for its support of Estonia’s candidacy to join the United Nation’s Security Council in 2020-21.
Issues discussed were the situation in Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s integration into NATO, the EU’s defense and foreign policy, and sanctions.
According to the Foreign Minister, the relations between the two countries are good, and there are possibilities for increased cooperation, especially in international trade and the field of information and communication technology.
