Estonian government to hold Thursday session at Piusa border guard station
The Estonian Government will hold its next meeting at Piusa border guard base, near the Estonian-Russian border, today, where together with local experts and activists they will discuss problems in the region as well as possible solutions to them.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. at the border guard base’s newly constructed complex, which is scheduled to open officially on Friday.
Topics to be discussed at today’s meeting include the construction of Estonia’s eastern border, work connected to the country’s border guard as well as security and economic issues affecting the region.
Ministers to speak at the government press conference include Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas, Minister of the Interior Hanno Pevkur, Minister of Finance Sven Sester, Minister of Defence Hannes Hanso, and Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure Kristen Michal.
After the press conference, the Estonian Government will review the construction of the eastern border and visit the railway and vehicular border crossing points in Koidula.
