Raud’s Riigikogu replacement Jürgenstein to join Cultural Affairs Committee ({{commentsTotal}})

Social Democratic Party (SDE) member Toomas Jürgenstein, who will be replacing Mihkel Raud in the Riigikogu after the latter announced last week that he was leaving politics in order to concentrate on his TV3 talk show, will also be joining the Riigikogu’s Cultural Affairs Committee.

SDE Parliamentary Group Deputy Chairman Kalvi Kõva confirmed to ERR.ee that it was “99.9 percent likely” that Jürgenstein would be joining the committee after assuming his position as new MP.

Kõva noted that Jürgenstein himself expressed interest in the assignment and the parliamentary group had agreed to it. The Board of the Riigikogu must first confirm the decision, however.

Jürgenstein is scheduled to give his oath of office on Thursday.
