A high-level delegation of Beijing city government representatives is visiting Tallinn on Monday.

The delegation will be headed by Li Shixiang, the vice mayor of the Chinese capital, spokespeople for the Tallinn city government announced. Tallinn deputy mayor Taavi Aas, standing in for suspended mayor Edgar Savisaar, will welcome the delegation at Tallinn City Hall.

The delegation will visit the Tallinn Town Hall as well as the old town, the start-up incubator at Technopol, and the Mektory innovation and business center of the Tallinn University of Technology.

Tallinn has had a cooperation agreement with the Chinese capital since 1998, and a cultural cooperation agreement since 2010. The exchange between the two cities has included an annual event in Kadrioru Park to celebrate the Chinese new year, held since 2009, and various other events, including a tour of China of the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra.

The official delegation of the city council will return the visit and travel to Beijing in November 2016.
