New farmers' cooperative grain terminal to be completed by end of July ({{commentsTotal}})

The construction of a new, 8.6 million euro grain terminal in Tartu County's Rõngu Parish for the farmers' association Kevili remains on schedule and is expected to be completed before the end of July.

A laboratory for grain quality testing has already been equipped and the first employees hired, Chairman of the Supervisory Board Jaak Laanemets told BNS.

The completion of the facility has been timed to conincide with the start of the harvesting season.

Kevili has previously stated that the Rõngu terminal has a planned capacity of 50,000 tons and will be able to receive 400 tons or 16 truckloads of grain per hour.

Kevili represents 139 Estonian grain and rapeseed growers who have a total of approximately 80,000 hectares, or nearly 200,000 acres, of arable land at their disposal. One member uses an average of 580 hectares, or just under 1,500 acres, of land.
